Paul Hackett drops out of Senate Race

It seems that Paul Hackett has dropped out of the Senate race in Ohio. He states that the Democratic party refuses to support him.

Hackett told The New York Times for Tuesday's editions that the same party leaders who urged him to run for Senate after his political debut in a House race last year had turned on him.

"This is an extremely disappointing decision that I feel has been forced on me," Hackett said.

Paul Hackett, is an Iraq war veteren who last year gained popularity for his criticism of President Bush.

"For me, this is a second betrayal," Hackett said. "First, my government misused and mismanaged the military in Iraq, and now my own party is afraid to support candidates like me.

This is another example of Democrats not listening to their base. Hackett should run as an independent. I am tired of these wimpy Democrats trying to lean to the center. We need Senators like Paul Hacket.
