"Gay in America"

Slate magazine has a Picture essay on Gay in America. Although I was initially happy to see it I am sad that the pictures really don't represent Gay America there are very few pictures with people of color. Infact there are 3 pictures with people of color and in two of them you can barely see the person's of color. Is this how Slate sees Gays in America?

If Slate had used pictures of mostly black people it would have had a very different title probably corresponding with Black history month but the title would not have been "Gay in America."
