Hate the Sin Love the Sinner

Even though I am a Jew and not a Christian I am deeply offended by the Evangelical Lutheran Church. The church rejected a proposal that would have allowed lesbians and gays in commited relationships to serve as clergy. Under the current policy lesbians and gays can serve as clergy as long as they abstain from sexual relationships. After the vote:
In a news conference immediately after the vote, Presiding Bishop Mark Hanson said he hopes gay men and lesbians did not take the vote as a sign they are not welcome in the church, which has 4.9 million members. "They are. We have said that publicly and clearly," he said.

How can this religous body believe that gays and lesbians will feel welcomed. As a Jew who is a reconstructionist I feel very lucky to be part of movement in judaism that truly welcomes and accepts all people.

In case your wondering we even ordain Lesbian and Gay Rabbis.
